You what? Super viral trends that are simple to make? Sold! We all know the struggle when it comes to watching a 'how to' video, thinking it'll be super-duper easy peasy and then your end result looks like a squashed potato, yet their's looks like a sparkly angel. The pain. Today, I am bringing you Instagram worthy sweet treats that are possible to make and shall make you feel extra festive (only 13 more days).
They almost look like little green and red sponges, but the secret to achieving this pattern is to divide the cake batter into six mini bowls and adding food colouring in different hues. It may be time-consuming, but definitely worth it! Just look how cute they are. Guess who's gonna be the winner of the Christmas buffet? You are!
Cranberry Curd Tart
A curd with lemons, of course, the tart being thin, sweet, crunchy and smooth. The bright red filling screams Christmas and festivity which is why we love this cranberry tart! The colouring is completely natural by using frozen cranberries, and you can even cheat and buy a store-bought pastry crust. No one will have to know; it's our secret! Perfect with a dollop of whipped cream.
Apple Rose Tart
How gorgeous. It's almost too perfect to eat! This tart is filled with a maple custard which is topped with elegant apple roses. Looks difficult? All you do is microwave the apple slices for a short period of time to soften them, and they are easier to work with. Even better, it's gluten-free!
Lemon Meringue Fridge Cake
Tangy, appealing and minimal effort. Perfect for the non-chocolate lovers and most of the ingredients are ready made. No standing around in the kitchen for hours, so you have more time to spend with the family! Very rich yet very easy.
Stained Glass Biscuits
The kids will love this one, and you can go all traditional and hang these up with a ribbon on the tree. The stained glass effect works by using boiled sweets which melt into the biscuit while baking. Sweets and cookies? The bigger the sugar rush, the better! Anyone up for a candy flavoured Gookie Dough treat!
Chocolate Peppermint Cake
A cake with a smooth silky glaze and garnished with crushed peppermint candy canes. Perfect with vanilla ice cream.

Slush Puppie Machine
Our childhood dreams have come true. Enjoy a tongue colour changing treat which you can now make from the comfort of your own home. Pop onto your kitchen counter and make a unique or classic flavour of icy goodness. All you need is syrup, ice, water and some salt and you're good to go. Guess who'll be hosting the summer party next year?
Red Velvet Gookie Dough is our go to this festive season, with the vibrant red screaming Christmas. But what if you want a baked red velvet cookie? Look no further as we're here to save the day with these crimson cream cheese stuffed delights. Yes, that's right, they're stuffed with goodness!
The process is relatively straightforward. First of all, you need to prepare and chill the red velvet cookie dough, you then go onto making the cream cheese filling. Next, you drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto a baking sheet and freeze. Once frozen, you pop the spoonfuls of filling onto your dough balls. Then, of course, you need to assemble them and bake! Voila.
To make the cookie dough, you'll need cocoa powder (26g), flour (185g), egg (1 large), milk (1 tablespoon), brown sugar (100g), caster sugar (200g), butter (115g) and vanilla extract (2tsp). Of course, don't forget the red food colouring (1 tablespoon)! This compares to chocolate cookie ingredients, but the only difference is you're reducing the cocoa powder to more flour! It's important to remember that red velvet is way more special than the famous quote 'it's just an ordinary mixture which is dyed red.' NO! It should be a blend of cocoa and vanilla which is also very buttery.
To make the cream cheese filling, you'll need cream cheese (112g), icing sugar (210g), flour (1tablespoon) and vanilla extract (1/2 tsp). Simply beat the ingredients together until it's smooth and creamy. Simple right?
To ensure that the filling is within the middle of the cookie, take one small red velvet cookie dough ball, pop a smaller amount of cream cheese filling on top and then place another ball of cookie dough at the top to create a sandwich like an effect. Squish together gently to make a flat cookie shape and roll in caster sugar to add a bit of sparkle. After all, it is December tomorrow.
Vegan? Lactose intolerant? I've got your back! Any milk of your choice should work just fine! Don't like the thought of using red food colouring? Try using beet powder instead, this is a natural alternative and will still give the same result. Use two teaspoons for a gorgeous ruby red. If the filling or cookie dough is too soft while assembling, then just pop into the fridge before trying again. Do not panic!
Ready to impress your guests? What festive treats do you love making?
It's not quite Christmas, and it's not really Autumn anymore. What's in season and what was soooo last season? We don't want turkey yet, and we're definitely over Halloween. Here is what foods are at their peak right now and what beautiful dishes to make!
Surprisingly, November is a special time for some of your favourite fruit and veggies. These include lettuce, onion, parsnip, pear, peppers, carrots, cauliflower, apples, dates, kale, cranberry (ready for that turkey of yours!) and sweet potato to name a few. All of these goodies are bursting with nutrients and are waiting to be laid on your table on Christmas day. However, before we get ahead of ourselves, let's see what you can get cooking up in the kitchen now.
3 Potato Soup
Well hello, comfort food. Oh, how we need you when we're sniffling and spluttering in our beds. Potatoes will always be there for you, even when no one else is! This beautiful soup consists of red potato, sweet potato and Yukon gold potato, especially delicious during November. Sweet potato just turned to sweetest.
Hazelnut & Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookies
Our speciality returns! Nuts scream winter and these cookies give a sense of warmth to the home. Super crunchy, super gooey and super sweet. Perfection! Who needs cookie scented Christmas candles when you have the real deal lingering through your house (that is actually edible!)? Better yet, our Funfetti Gookie Dough is nom-worthy!
Sweet Potatoes With Marshmallows
I can hear you screaming 'WHAT?!' but at least hear us out, ok? Scrape the potato out of the skin, blend it with cinnamon and nutmeg (festivity) to create a bizarre but beautiful concoction. Then pipe the potato back into the skin, add mini marshmallows and there you have it. The only question I ask is whether it's the main meal or a dessert?
For those of you lovelies who are vegan, this one's for you. Loving your Pumpkin Spice latte and want a slice of cake to go with eat? Hola, paleo pumpkin roll! A light and fluffy almond based cake with a gorgeous cashew buttercream.
Hawaij Apple Pie
Ha-what? My thoughts exactly. This peculiar combo is a Yemeni spice mix which is so easy to make at home. Mix ginger, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg together, so very autumny! Impress your guests and put a twist on that British classic.
Happy nectarous November! Which dish is your choice?
