What a title for a blog post! It's half term week so get the kids in the kitchen and get baking. Not only is it something fun to do and will stop the whining, but it also makes some super yummy treats and these don't require cooking (yes we do like to make your life easier)! So, win-win, not only will the kids have their treats but they'll also keep their paws off your Gookie Dough.

    Crispy Brains

    You will need:

    175g of mini marshmallows

    25g of butter

    100g of puffed rice cereal

    Sunflower oil

    Red pipping/gel icing

    Method:

Firstly, line a baking tray with baking paper. Pop the marshmallows and butter in a bowl and put over a pan of simmering water to melt, stir occasionally.

Tip your rice puffs in a large bowl and pour over the melted marshmallows. Stir to combine (WARNING: STICKY FINGERS). Pour a drop of sunflower oil onto a plate and dip your hands in it and shape the mixture into eight oval brains, pop them on the prepared tray and regrease your hands if needed.

Drip the handle of a teaspoon in oil and press down the centre of each cluster to create a groove. Take your red icing and drizzling or pipe some lines all over the brains to give the image of blood. Leave to set.

    Banana Mummies

    You will need:

    Three bananas

    100g of mini marshmallows

2 and a half tablespoons of sunflower oil

250g dark chocolate which is chopped

    Chocolate icing (writing)

    Method:

Peel your three bananas and halve them crossways. Insert a popsicle stick into the cut base of each banana and put on a tray which is lined with baking paper. Pop in the freezer for an hour.

Next, prepare the eyes. Empty the mini marshmallows into a bowl and cut six in half. Melt the dark chocolate with the oil in a bowl and pop over a bowl of simmering water. Dip each banana in the melted chocolate and return to the tray. Press in the marshmallows for eyes and freeze for 30 minutes or until set.

Microwave the remaining marshmallows for 20 seconds or until just melted. Allow sitting until strands form and then wrap around each banana with a fork. Use the writing icing to dot pupils onto the eyes. Voila, yummy mummy!

Trust us, your Halloween party is going to be fantastic! You can thank us all at Gookie Dough later. Go crazy, Gookie Monsters. Got any cool Halloween ideas? Let us know in the comments below.
