Upcycling Your Gookie Dough Pots
It's been a while but we're back with more recycling ideas. Here at Gookie Dough, we provide you with plastic pots which contain our product but we don't want you to throw them away, we want to see them recycled and making steps to help the environment. You've seen the beauty and desk editions so here is how to turn your pots of joy into safekeeping godsends!
Keys and cards
How many of us have misplaced our keys or cards and have been rushing to get out the door only to have to turn the house upside down. We've all been there! By keeping your keys in your Gookie Dough pot when you get in, you'll know that they'll always be there and will never go walkabout.
Change savings
Got coppers and silvers making your purse/wallet ten times heavier? Take saving to the next level and pop all your stupid 5 and 10p coins in your Gookie pot and before you know it, you'll have an extra £10. With our monster tubs, you may even find yourself with a decent bit of cash. Perfect if you're craving cocktails on that Saturday night or want to buy your next stash of our treat!
Meds, meds, meds
So, boxes for medications aren't exactly durable and tend to rip, break and just become destroyed. Keep your medications in a safe place and altogether so you know where they are! If you have people in your family with different medications then label your Gookie pot so you're able to keep your own and no mix-ups occur.
The lost earphones
So, you're about to get on a hectic train, it's rush hour and you're scrambling around in your black hole of a bag. Your earphones are in hiding, you know they're in there but the slight panic of you losing them is in the back of your mind. You're holding people up behind you and your train is on its way. WHERE ARE THEY?! Say goodbye to the panic and pop your earphones in a Gookie pot. Not only will they be safe, but they're easier to find in your bag and won't become dirty or filled with crumbs. Problem solved!

Upcycling Gookie Dough Pots
Today, we continue the series of upcycling your Gookie Dough pots. With the current plastic crisis, here at Gookie Dough, we want you to enjoy our delicious product but then make the most of the packaging. In the past, we've shown you ways to sass up your storage with desk tidies and how to store your beauty products. This time, we're recycling all things bathroom.
The ultimate makeup remover
You've most likely got a stash of cotton wool pads shoved somewhere in your bathroom cupboard. Makeup remover is essential, so instead of sticking to wipes or ruining all of your white towels, this will save your life! Grab your Gookie Dough tub and wash it out properly so it's clean. Insert your cotton pads inside until it's full to the top. Pour some makeup remover over your pads (be generous). Pop the lid on and then leave to soak. Now every time it's shower time, you can just grab your makeup remover-infused cotton pads. Easy!
Bathroom travel
If you're going travelling and have awkward sized bottles which won't fit in your luggage then say no more. We all know that the miniature travel bottles are way too small, especially when you've got crazy thick hair! Take your clean Gookie Dough tub and pour your shampoo, conditioner or shower gel into it until you have the amount you need. Secure with the lid. Now you have a compact size, perfect for travel with no leaks or broken caps!
Bath salts
Bath salts occasionally come in flimsy packets that don't reseal and spill everywhere. It's time to ditch the packet and go hardcore. Pour your bath salts into your Gookie Dough tub and secure with the lid. Pop on the bathroom shelf leak-free and fresh for your bubbles later on!
Razor safety
Our razors are awkward to store once they've been used. Prone to rust and dangerous if your home has little ones, there should be a solution. Take your Gookie Dough pot and clean it out thoroughly. Pop in your razors blade down and put somewhere out of reach. Not only will they be out of the way but they can also dry effectively in the pot which reduces rust and makes your razor last longer. Yay for smooth legs!
So, there's the bathroom edition with help from us! If you have any more recycling hacks with our tubs then please let us know in the comments below!

Upcycling Gookie Dough Tubs, Food Edition
We've seen in previous blog posts that Gookie Dough tubs aren't just for storing your dough and then throwing them away. We love to encourage you cookie monsters to reuse and upcycle your tubs. Not only are they great for storage, you can make them into really useful pieces of equipment. Whether this is beauty, fashion or lifestyle related. Today, we're looking at how you can recycle your pots in the kitchen.
Sweetie Storage
If you want to make your kitchen shelves colourful with pretty sweets and chocolates then our tubs look perfect on your shelves. Due to the plastic being see-through, you can really use this to your advantage. In our case, we used lollipops in the monster tub of Gookie Dough. However, when it comes to the smaller tubs, perhaps fill them with smarties and dolly mixtures for a vibrant splash of colour. A true focal point.
Pasta Pots
First of all, let's just take a moment to appreciate this colourful pasta. Yes, at first I thought it was flower petals or some strange cereal but it's so gorgeous! Instead of having packets shoved in the cupboard that are half open and left to go stale, using the Gookie Dough tub is so useful. The airtight pot allows food to stay fresh and is compact. No more ripped packets or disastrous spills.
Coffee Corner
Starbucks and Costa vibes are certainly present right now. Create a coffee corner in your kitchen which is perfect when you're in need of your caffeine boost. The use of coffee beans is becoming more common so why not turn your kitchen into a cafe. Another top tip is to keep the lid off if you're having guests around as the smell of coffee will linger through the air and get those nostrils sniffing in delight. You can thank us later for your morning fix.
Cookie Cup
What better way to make use of a Gookie Dough tub than to put cookies and biscuits into it as storage? Yes, that's right, your very own cookie jar courtesy of us. A cheaper way to store your yummy's compared to a jar from the shops. Not only that, but you're also saving the environment and doing some good for the planet.
Secure tubs that you can reuse with hardware plastic and a secure lid. The best part? You're saving money along with the world. Have any more ideas on how to upcycle your tubs in the kitchen? Let us know in the comments below!

Upcycling Gookie Dough Pots, Desk Edition
You've seen the previous upcycling post for Gookie Dough tubs where we spoke about them in relation to beauty. So, moving on from that, today we're discussing how to turn these tubs of tastiness to something more practical. And voila, we made these adorable desk tidies which are ultimate goals. They're super easy and free to make with everything already in your home. Get your creative game on, let's do this!
Scissors
Pen
Your Gookie Dough tub AND the label
Sticky tape
Patterned paper (we used wallpaper)
Directions
To kick-start, you're probably wondering about the paper. You can use wrapping paper, coloured paper, any of a design of your choice. We picked up wallpaper samples from homeware stores such as B&Q which are free and provide you with a variety of choice.
Firstly, take your Gookie Dough pot and remove the label on the tub (DO NOT THROW THIS AWAY). Take your wallpaper and pop the label on top but the non-sticky side. You're going to use this as a stencil of measurement. Mark how big the label is with the pen on your wallpaper with little dots and then remove the label. Then cut the label shape out.
Now you've got your perfect sized wallpaper piece, you need to bend it into a circle and measure up where you need to sellotape. Pop it into the tub to ensure you get the right size and then take it out and fix the paper with tape. Then pop the paper back in and you've got a beautifully decorated tub.
The hard bit is over! Simply pop all of your pens, highlighters, stationery, paperclips and even snacks into the pot and place them on your desk. Super cute accessories which keep your desk as clean as possible. Perfect for the ideal workspace and a brilliant way to upcycle.

Upcycle Your Gookie Dough Pots
When it comes to Gookie Dough pots, you'll be surprised with the number of things you can do to reuse them instead of throwing them away. We've got a blog series where we upcycle your cookie dough pots and today, we kick things off with the beauty edition. So, girls, a heads up because this one is for you (and guys, of course, especially if you're a contact lens wearer). Today, in particular, we focus on the monster tubs for all of those important bits.
#1 Brushes
Finding a makeup brush holder is a difficult challenge and when you come across one, you're put off by the price. However, how cute brushes look in a Gookie Dough tub? All you need to do is wash the pot out thoroughly and pop your brushes in. As simple as that! Of course, removing the label is optional but it will look better on your vanity without. The great thing is that the tub is rather large so you're able to access your brushes with ease.
#2 Toiletry Holder
When we have a bath or shower, we tend to get our products everywhere. Shampoo will be at one end while the shower gel is hiding behind endless empty bottles. If you have any mini-sized bottles of toiletries then pop them into the monster Gookie Dough tub and place them on your shelf in the bathroom. Not only will they save space but they'll all be together so no more searching for that body scrub!
#3 Contact Lenses
Contact lens wearers, the struggle can be real when travelling around with your contacts, especially with the solution, your contact pot and also extra contact lenses, especially if you wear daily disposables! To keep everything in one place and separate from your makeup bag, pop all of your contact products in the Gookie Dough tub and secure with the lid. Those things are extremely fiddly and this little hack will give you peace of mind.
So, there are just a few simple ways you can upcycle your Gookie Dough tubs and get some extra use out of them. See, we're not always about cookies (although 95% of the time we are), hence why we've designed pots which cater to your DIY creative needs. Plastic pots aren't so boring after all.
