Valentine's Day Dessert Ideas

Sorry guys, but this year, a box of chocolates is just not cutting it for your partner. It's time to up the game and make up a dessert from scratch (I can hear you internally screaming) but seriously, it will mean so much more and will definitely make the heart flutter.

Banoffee Pudding Parfait

You remember what "parfait" means, yeah? Well to help you, it's merely whipped cream, eggs and fruit. Add some homemade vanilla wafers and layer with caramel pudding to make a sickly sweet dessert that you shall genuinely fall in love with.

Tiramisù

Did you know that tiramisù means "pick me up"? The mind is blown. Now if you're not a coffee fan then it's not a problem. Merely use fruity flavoured alcohol to soak the ladyfingers in and pop a layer of fresh fruit (preferably strawberries or raspberries) between the layers of mascarpone cream. Fresh pears and crumbled shortbread biscuits will bring out the original taste.

Bitter Orange Chocolate Truffles

How very fancy. Forget a box of milk tray, that was so last year! Serve rich bite-sized truffles after dinner as a sweet little kick. Blood oranges are in season at this time of year, so provide a gorgeous zesty taste. This shall really tingle the taste buds.

Red Velvet Heart Shaped Cookies

Take it to the traditional levels and make homemade cookies. Guess what? This is where our magic work steps in. Grab yourself a tub of red velvet Gookie Dough, roll out flat and cut into hearts with a cookie cutter. Next, pop them in the oven for 12 minutes and let the results astonish you. Perfect gooey melt in the middle cookies with a crispy edge. Make extras because they are irresistible.

Fortune Cookies

Make homemade fortune cookies with personalised messages. Adorable for Valentine's Day and a pleasant surprise! All you need are egg whites, vanilla extract, almond extract, sunflower oil, plain flour, cornflour, caster sugar and sesame seeds. The best part, they take about 15 minutes to make. Ideal if you're a busy bee.

Mug Chocolate Soufflés

Warm and bittersweet with a hint of coffee, these gorgeous soufflés will warm the mood. Indulge in these beauties and let the mocha taste take you both to heaven!

Brownie Hearts

These Valentine treats combine bittersweet and semisweet chocolate with plenty of butter, eggs, granulated sugar and brown sugar for a moist, creamy dessert. After the brownies have cooked and cooled, you can use 3-inch heart-shaped cutters to create romantic shapes. Then spray or sprinkle with edible glitter and lastly, drizzle with a vanilla glaze.

Vanilla Pudding with Chocolate Chip Gookie Dough

Put a twist on cookies and milk and go posh. Combine sugar, cornstarch, salt, milk, eggs, butter and vanilla for the vanilla pudding and to garnish, add balls of original Gookie Dough. We told you we were here to help! Just look how divine they are.

So get hot in the kitchen and whip up something magical. You can thank us later for playing cupid!
